Fox has officially ordered the pilot for an unnamed TV Series set in the X-Men universe.
The show will focus on two ordinary parents who discover their child has mutant powers. As a result, they are forced to join up with a network of mutants to escape hostile government organizations.
Matt Nix, known for creating Burn Notice, is set to write and executive produce the show. This will be the second Fox show set in an X-Men universe. The first one is Legion, which will air on February 8.
However, while Legion takes place in an alternate X-Men universe where mutants aren’t known to exist, this new show might tie-in closer with the main X-Men cinematic universe. At the very least, from the sounds of the plot summary it won’t be set in the same universe as Legion, since mutants seem to be a known thing.
X-Men movie veterans Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg will be executive producers on the new series. Both Marvel Television and 20th Century Fox will be producing the new series as well.
