Neuwirth was interviewed by Ian Spelling for the article “Bebe Neuwirth’s First Contact”, published in The Official Star Trek: The Next Generation Magazine Vol. 20, p. 6. On how she was cast, Neuwirth explains, “I guess they got wind of the fact that I’m a Trekkie and that I would love to do their show. Something came up that they felt I could do it. They sent it over and I jumped at it. It was basically one scene, and I had a ball doing it.”
Born Beatrice Neuwirth, she is perhaps best known for her role as Frasier Crane’s wife and later ex-wife Lilith Sternin on the hit television series Cheers and its spin-off Frasier, a role for which she won two Emmy awards. Philip Anthony Hopkins is a Welsh actor of film, stage, and television. After graduating from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in 1957, he trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, and was then spotted by Laurence Olivier who invited him to join the Royal National Theatre. In 1968, he got his break in film in The Lion in Winter, playing King Richard the Lionheart.
Hopkins is well known for his portrayal of Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor, its sequel Hannibal, and the prequel Red Dragon. Other notable films include The Mask of Zorro, The Bounty, Meet Joe Black, The Elephant Man, Magic, 84 Charing Cross Road, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Legends of the Fall, Thor, The Remains of the Day, Amistad, Nixon, The World’s Fastest Indian, Instinct and Fracture. He starred in the critically acclaimed HBO television series Westworld.
Along with his Academy Award, Hopkins has won three BAFTA Awards, two Emmys, and the Cecil B. DeMille Award. In 1993, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for services to the arts. Concetta Tomei is an American theatre, film and television character actress, best known for her roles as Major Lila Garreau on the ABC series China Beach (1988–1991) and as Lynda Hansen on the NBC series Providence (1999–2002).
Tomei appeared in the original cast of several pioneering Off-Broadway productions, including Caryl Churchill’s Cloud Nine and Larry Kramer’s The Normal Heart. She appeared opposite Kevin Kline in the New York Shakespeare Festival’s Richard III (winning New York’s Bayfield Shakespearean award for her performance) and starred with David Bowie in the Broadway production of The Elephant Man, continuing in the national tour.
In the 1980s, she moved to California and appeared in many regional theatres, including Los Angeles’ Mark Taper Forum, the Oregon Contemporary Theatre, and San Francisco’s ACT. She was a regular cast member in the TV-series China Beach, which ran from 1988–1991. She was also in the cast of the short-lived “Madman of the People”(1994–95). She starred in the 1992 Television miniseries The Burden of Proof. In 2005, Tomei guest appeared in an episode of The King of Queens. One year later, in 2006, she returned to Off-Broadway with an acclaimed performance in Sarah Ruhl’s The Clean House. In 2007 she appeared opposite Kevin Kline and Jennifer Garner in the Broadway production of Cyrano: The Musical.
From 1997-2011, Tomei played guest roles on TV shows, such as 7th Heaven, Touched by an Angel, Second Time Around, The King of Queens, Weeds, Numb3rs, Kitchen Confidential, The Closer, Cold Case, Ghost Whisperer, Nip/Tuck, Rubicon, Necessary Roughness, and Star Trek: Voyager.
In 2017, she appeared in an episode of The Mick titled “The Grandparents”, as Tippy Pemberton, the twisted, abusive grandmother of Sabrina, Chip and Ben.
